Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American Canadian singer and songwriter. Her albums span over 20 years. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk and alternative rock but includes influence from hip music and jazz. Ani DiFranco, widely regarded as a feminist icon and Grammy award-winning musician is thought to be the founder of DIY music. She was among the first artists to establish her own label in the year 90. DiFranco was a born on 23rd September, 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her mother hails from Montreal and her father is of Italian heritage. Ani diFranco was the composer and singer of the track 32 Flavors. It is featured on the sixth album Not a Pretty Girl by Ani DiFranco, that was released in 1996. The song's version can be heard on the 1999 Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apologized for hosting a workshop in Louisiana on an old plantation for slaves. The event was cancelled however, many (including the newspaper) failed to consider it a gesture of regret. DiFranco offered a second apology a few days later.
